The Grand Return!

Today on the 13th March, Pi day, Friends of Rickerby Park had our usual monthly Mass Action Day (M.A.D.) to tackle park maintenance, with a turn out of three whole folks!

We only have two hours to work with to begin with, but that precious time was cut to just one due to vandalism today. Some folks had tried to break into the tool storage shed! Not that there’s much of value in there to steal… the hour it took to get into the shed cut into time we planned initially to use for other tasks.

Special thanks to the University of Cumbria repairman passing by who helped us finally crack it open!

Still, we managed to make good progress removing ivy, weeding, and cutting back brambles around the Eden Bridge Gardens and left having enjoyed plenty of spring sun and flowers (the Azalea in the header photo is doing particularly well), and we even spotting some frog spawn!

M.A.D.s occur on every second Saturday of the month, meeting at 10am at Eden Bridge Gardens. We hope to see you there next month!
